Although fall 2009 starts your freshman year, certain career goals start with planning now!  Are you considering work in teaching, health care, law, or another field requiring advanced training?  It’s not too early to explore requirements and prepare effectively.

Visit the Career & Community Learning Center, to assess your interests, identify related volunteer/intern sites, and more. Meet peers with similar interests in a student group. Use Graduation Planner, to map out courses.

Talk with your adviser regularly!

Recommended exploration for…

TEACHING

Contact the College of Education and Human Development.

Inquire about DirecTrack to Teaching, which offers selected undergrad students the focused preparation for early admission to the M.Ed./Initial licensure program.  Register for an Information Session about graduate programs.

HEALTH CARE

Contact the Health Careers Center.

Learn about the variety and uniqueness of specializations.  Take note of program requirements, planning sheets, and pre-requisite courses.  You may choose a non-science CLA major, while completing pre-health courses!

LAW

Contact the Career & Community Learning Center for pre-law advising.

Explore links, register for a workshop or class, and prepare in advance for a pre-law advising appointment.  You will be ready to apply!

CONNECT – LEARN – ACT

As you act upon your pre-professional interests now, you’ll make connections to learn which steps to take next.  Find what’s truly best for you.  What’s ahead is worth it!
