Unlike many of our colleagues in the
education field, summer time is our busy time. The Office will be
spending much of its time helping incoming Freshmen (Class of 2013!)
with Orientation and Registration. As a result, open advising
appointments and walk-in hours may be limited.
When will advisers have appointment times available?
Due to both new high school student and transfer student
orientations, the summer months are our busiest time of the year.
We strongly suggest that all current students who want to see their
adviser over summer do so during the month of July. While we will have
appointments during June and August, they will be especially
limited. Remember that we book appointments up to two weeks out. We will NOT have regular Walk-In hours.
I have a question - how do I get it answered?
The best first-step would be to email your assigned adviser (or if you do not have an assigned adviser, please email us at: socialsc@umn.edu).
Please see our Staff List (to the immediate right) for our email
addresses. Remember to include your first and last name, as well as
your Student ID number and please give us two to three days to get back
to you. While every effort will be made to get back to you as soon as
possible, remember that we may not be able to do so as quickly as we
would like to.
I would like to see my adviser - how do I do that?
The best first-step would be to call the Office at (612) 626 – 7714
to see what appointments are available or to see what Walk-In hours
there are. You are also encouraged to use ULook to book open
appointments. In general, open advising appointments will be in the
afternoon hours during the summer. Remember that advisers cannot
schedule appointments via email.
